Your friendly reminder that global warming is still a thing

Remember a few months back when Covid-19 caught the whole world with the pants down? Even though we had all sorts of loud warnings from science and fiction? Well, guess what is about to happen again?

Before the coronavirus was a hit, the World’s favourite past time was to argue over more ordinary issues. A presidential impeachment, the UK divorce from the EU, an 857-year-old charming church going down in flames, a bunch of wars.

The Notre-Dame Cathedral from ‘A Walk in Paris’ project.

One of those topics was climate change and its potentially catastrophic outcome. Much like the current pandemic, the global warming chaos will affect us all. The difference is that this one comes in slow motion and there might be still time to do something about it.

What do I know? Not a thing. That’s why I leave you with three links to start your ‘End of the World 2’ journey. Just in case you want to go to the beach in 50 years. (I can’t cause… death).

Global Climate Change

This portal by NASA is packed with clear information, graphs, evidence, resources, and even an area for kids. It’s one of the best out there. It makes you want to explore the issue instead of overdosing you with science lingo.

A critical step to reduce climate change

If you can forgive Bill Gates for Windows Me (it took me years) you should remember that he was the one to give a prophetic TED Talk on the outbreak we are watching live from our quarantine boxes. We didn’t listen, did we? It turns out he’s been speaking on climate change too. We have another chance.

Climate Neutral

This certification project was backed on a Kickstarter campaign. With more than 100 brands on board, the idea is simple. Companies measure their carbon footprint, develop a plan to reduce it and whatever is left — since it’s impossible to reach zero — they neutralize by purchasing carbon credits. The money goes to verified efforts to reduce emissions elsewhere. In the exact same measure. Brands get a neat-looking label for it and we, consumers, favour their products because we’re cool. Genius.

Can you take more?

Be kind,
